Shopping Trip to Birmingham

Earlier this week our furniture designer and product buying team visited the January Furniture Show in Birmingham. We went there for inspiration and to source accessories for our Spring Summer Collection which is going to bigger than ever before!

While the workshop makes all our own furniture and shelves, we curate our home accessories collection, buying in pieces from suppliers which have similar values to our own – creating really beautiful pieces at realistic prices, and handmade wherever possible.

We choose home accessories that not only look great with our furniture and shelves, but pieces which pick up on key interior trends without being so fashionable that you’ll have to replace them next season. It’s about a home style that’ll withstand the test of time.

It was a fantastic day, and with sore feet from walking miles, we came away with great ideas for our accessories, perhaps a couple of new companies to work with, and inspiration from incredible styling on some of the stands.

So take a look at just a snapshot of what we saw.

The beautiful Ercol stand, celebrating 100 years of the brand by showcasing its iconic chairs from the last century. We loved the simplicity and focus on form and functionality.

2020 Trend – Simplicity

It’s the dawn of a new decade, and with the passing of time comes reminiscing. Our team of designers and stylists believe that the next trend will see us looking back to simpler times…

As we seek to find calmness and tranquility in our fractured world, homes will be transformed into havens, places to weather the storm.

Has grey had its day? Possibly. The shift away from cool colours to warmer based neutrals, including beige, oatmeal and cream. Accent colours can be introduced to add another layer to the scheme, but these remain soft and tranquil.

This trend is a stripped back style, but not stark and industrial. It’s about creating a comfy living space that’s inviting and restful, without a statement or focal point in one area of the room.
Choices should be refined and thoughtful, furniture and accessories that are beautiful and functional without dominating a space.

2020 Interiors Trend: Mother Nature

Our team of designers and stylists have put their heads together and come up with what we believe to be the looks that everyone will be creating in their homes this year.

Our first trend prediction…Mother Nature

What Colours?
Green, warmer neutrals, earthier tones and pastels are going to be a very on-trend for 2020. Just as nature intended, the combination works really well.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you have to redecorate – introduce colour with accessories, soft furnishings, pictures and wall hangings. Oh, and of course, plants!

The warmer tones of wooden furniture naturally work well with this theme too. Choose wax finishes that complement your room and work with existing furniture.

If you are considering painting your walls, use a darker green as base colour in large rooms, or as a feature colour in smaller spaces.

If you prefer a lighter, brighter, Scandi-style choose a pastel green for your home. Still very on-trend and works very well with this look.

What about Soft Furnishings?
Add a cosiness and a welcoming feel to your home. Go for natural fibres and combine different colours and styles.

Layer throws with cushions on sofas, blankets on beds, and super soft rugs over carpets underfoot.

Don’t match colours and styles, go natural, be wild!
